Fairy fort in Barrahaurin, County Cork: a 38 m earthen ring on a SW-facing slope above the Dripsey River. Its bank, still 1.38 m high from the north to the southwest, marks a small defended or occupied place among four ringforts spaced along the valley. People may have lived, stored grain or kept animals there before the field became pasture; the earth remembers the shape even when the names have thinned.

A fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Barrahaurin is a circular early-medieval defensive or agricultural site, likely dating to between the 6th and 10th centuries AD. Local folklore associates such sites with the supernatural, often believed to be dwellings of the fairies or ancient spirits.
