Mnemo knows the difference between a victim and a volunteer. She also knows the shape of the chamber, the weight of the door and the name of the dead man behind it. What she does not know is whether Eochu is asking to be freed or telling her she is the next occupant. Eochu does not want to kill her. He wants to stop her killing herself, which is why he is so cruel.
