Barconny holds a forty-metre earthen ring where a broken bank and causeway still mark the entrance. The soil remains raised against the Cavan sky, preserving a shape human hands or ancient belief must have built. People may have lived inside, feared the dark work behind it, or simply followed the line of the bank when the land was young.

Raised circular area (int. dims. 41.5mNNE-SSW; 39m WNW-ESE) enclosed by a low earthen bank and slight traces of a fosse identifiable only from S-SSW-SW. Break in bank with accompanying causeway at S may represent original entrance.
