Fairy forts are earthen ringforts abandoned before written record, yet local people kept calling them fairy forts because the shapes still suggest occupied ground. In Ballyvroghaun Eighter the ridge may have marked a boundary, a shelter or a place where people stopped trusting what they could not see. The name preserves that moment of wonder: human life built or used the circle, left it behind, and the community continued believing the field was not empty.
