Fairy forts are human ringforts misnamed because people stopped remembering they were human. Ballynatona kept its shape long enough for surveys to measure a forty-metre field, then domestication closed the circle: garden, yard, forgetfulness. The fairies did not build it; they inherited the vacancy left when neighbourhood stopped naming the chamber. What is forgotten becomes available for imagination, and imagination is not the same as fabrication.

In pasture, on break in E-facing slope. Depicted as irregularly shaped field (c. 40m x c. 40m) on 1842, 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps. Site lies to rear of bungalow; area used as garden and farmyard. According to local tradition, fort once stood here. Broker (1937, 43) recorded 'fort 1/4 acre, fence partially levelled' on this farm.
