Half-hidden in wet Galway grass, the fairy fort in Ballynamantan still keeps its round shape, twenty-eight metres across, though a field wall now cuts through one side and bushes strangle the rest. It is the kind of place where people may have lived, loved, argued and forgotten, while later traditions gave the same earth to fairies because the shape remained clearer than the history. The marsh has not released it; it has only changed what can be seen.

On a slope in low-lying marshy grassland. Circular rath (diam. 27.9m), in fair condition, defined by a bank obscured by overgrowth. No visible surface trace of the enclosing element survives from ENE to SE. A roughly E-W running field wall cuts through the rath at SSE and WSW and the area to the S of it is densely overgrown with trees and bushes.
