What is recorded here

Ballynabearna held a twenty-five-metre earthen ring on a gentle slope, but human hands or time have since erased its boundary. The land keeps no visible scar, yet the lost circle suggests people once drew a line around life, perhaps excluding the fairies or protecting what they valued. Forgetting the mark does not undo the shape it had.

In pasture, near base of gentle SE-facing slope. Monument, depicted on 1923 OS 6-inch map as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 25m), has been levelled. No trace of monument evident when inspected. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
