No fairy ever touched Ballymullen. A circular rath, twenty-eight metres across, still holds its earth and stone bank on the north-facing slope. A field wall now crosses part of the ancient edge, and a man-made passage lies hidden inside. The fort is not a fantasy; it is a ruined human dwelling, partially buried under later farms and belief.
