Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballylin (shanid By., Lismakeery Ed)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts are not places to touch or test, because they belong to the unseen and they remember every human marker. The fort in Ballylin has kept that warning alive by disappearing into briar and furze, denying even the men who drew it in 1923. What resists measurement may be stronger than what can be written down.
In dense scrubland. Monument, depicted as circular embanked enclosure (diam. c. 20m) on 1923 OS 6-inch map, is now completely covered by dense overgrowth of briar and furze. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
