Ballykenny’s fairy fort stood on a steep NE-facing slope when surveyors marked it as a fort in 1837, but bulldozers later flattened most of its bank and buried its entrance. What remains is a faint forty-metre circle, a ribbon of earth and stone no higher than a ankle, and a ghost of a ditch wide enough for three people to stretch across. The small mound once reported near the centre has vanished entirely, leaving only a slight rise in pasture where a human hand may have shaped the land before forgetting it.

On a steep NE-facing slope in pasture. Depicted as a circular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. This rath has been largely levelled due to bulldozing. The extant remains comprise a slightly raised circular area (diam. c. 40m) enclosed by a levelled bank of earth and stone (Wth c. 4m; max. H 0.25m) with an infilled external fosse (Wth 3.2m; D 0.2m). The original entrance is not recognisable. A report in 1975 (SMR file) recorded a low circular mound (diam. c. 8m), of unknown significance, immediately to the NE of the centre of the interior.
