Lios na gCruach is a circular earthen enclosure in County Cork, partly erased but still marked by a hidden underground passage that emerged when tractor weight broke the surface in 2003. The place may be one of two lioses Power said had been demolished long since, yet the name and sudden hole suggest it resisted forgetting. Perhaps people still walk past it without knowing they are crossing a fort that once stood complete.

Cropmark (GSI, W255) shows circular univallate enclosure (diam. c. 35m); possibly one of the two 'lioses' referred to by Power (1940, 103) as having 'been demolished long since'. In June 2003 a Man-made underground passage (CO100-023001-) was discovered here after the ground colapsed under the weight of a tractor. While the landowner was not aware of any rath or Man-made underground passage here, the placename 'Lios na gCruach' is associated with this area. The class for this record has therefore been changed to rath. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
