Mortons has no visible castle because the lake and land swallowed or hid it. That absence is not a gap in the story; it is the story. An unknown sea, war, fire or forgetting removed what could be praised. What is left is a place where memory must invent its own witness.

In pasture on SSW-facing slope, overlooking Owenacurra river c. 130m to SW.Circular area (36m N-S; 36m E-W) enclosed by overgrown stone dump-construction bank (H 1.6m); fosse (max. D 1.2m) N->SSE. A fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Ballyerra is a circular, banked enclosure typical of early-medieval Ireland, likely dating to between the 5th and 10th centuries. Local folklore often associates such sites with the supernatural, including tales of fairies or other otherworldly beings.
