What is recorded here

Ballyenahan North held two ringforts, one perhaps a fairy fort and the other a human residence, sixty metres apart on a gentle west-facing slope. The first disappeared under ploughs and time, leaving only a shadow in old surveys and a faint cropmark where its eastern ditch once cut the earth. The second still stands as a buried outline in the field, witness to the first erasure. Neither place can prove what the other lost, but their proximity suggests a boundary between memories people kept and memories the land took back.

In tillage, on gentle W-facing slope. Depicted as hachured roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; no visible surface trace of site. Fosse at E side visible as cropmark in aerial photograph (CASAP). Ringfort (CO018-054---) in same field c. 60m to NE.
