Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballycullane Upper

Fairy fort in Ballycullane Upper is a circular earthwork about twenty metres across, hidden beneath dense vegetation on an NE-facing slope in County Limerick. Its bank rises nearly two metres outside but only eighty centimetres inside, with a narrow gap at the northwest where a field boundary presses against the earth. The name suggests people once believed fairies lived there, while the shape and setting point to a human ringfort from the medieval period. Whatever it was, it has stood long enough to become half-forgetten, half-sacred, and covered in green like a secret kept by the land.
