Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

No cabman knew the road, no camera recorded the trail, and no owner claimed the gold. I walked alone through black rain until the path ended at a stone gate standing free in the fields. I entered without permission. The chamber contained no treasure, only a copper basin filled with rainwater and a chair facing the wall. I sat down. The front gate closed behind me. The back gate opened onto a road I had walked a hundred times, but every building along it was empty and new. I understood then that the circle was not hiding treasure from people. It was testing whether people could bear to see the world without pretending. I left through the front gate. When I looked back, the gate had disappeared.
In woodland. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m) on 1923 OS 6-inch map, could not be located due to impenetrable undergrowth. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
