What is recorded here

Fairy forts in west Kerry are earthen rings, not magical palaces. That much is clear. What is not clear is whether the ring in Ballybeg held a farm, a shrine, a boundary or a warning. The soil remembers pressure, not praise. People may have lived inside it, feared it or simply avoided it. The hole in the knowledge is not a failure. It is the shape of the place.
