That is a fairy fort in Ballybarrack, County Louth. It has an earthen bank ten metres wide, rising half a metre inside but two and a half metres outside, with a narrow external ditch beside it. A man-made underground passage runs into one end of the bank, suggesting the ring served more than border or display. People may have moved through that hidden passage during storm, ceremony or flight, while the tall outer bank watched the approach.

In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Earthen bank (Wth 10m, H 0.7m internally, 2.5m externally) with external fosse (Wth 7m, D 0.6m) visible only from S-W. Man-made underground passage (LH007-074002-) partly incorporated in end of bank.
