What is recorded here

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballyara OR Falduff is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Ballyara OR Falduff, County Sligo, Ireland. The oval site measures 23 metres north-south and 31 metres east-west on a southeast-facing slope. A partially levelled earthen bank, eight metres wide, remains along the northeast and southwest arcs. The interior retains a gentle downward slope toward the southeast despite earlier modification for the hillside.
In pasture, on a SE-facing slope. An oval area (23m N-S; 31m E-W) defined by a partially levelled earthen bank (Wth 8m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.5m) along the NE and SW arcs; the remainder of the bank is levelled. The S portion of the interior is raised and the N portion is cut into the upslope to compensate for the hillslope. However, the interior retains a gentle slope down to SE. There is a circular enclosure (SL037-043001-) c. 20m to NE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
