Fairy fort in Ballinluig East: a circular earthwork, 56.5m by 54.9m, with two banks, two ditches and causeway gaps, now farmed. The name suggests people once believed the fort belonged to fairies rather than humans. That belief may have spared it from being broken open, because a home for unseen creatures is not the same as dead ground.

In tillage. Circular area (56.5m N-S; 54.9m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (max. H 0.9m); external fosse; second bank (H 0.35m), levelled to NNE; and outer fosse (D 0.8m) surviving to W. Gaps in bank to W and NNE, with causeways. Banks and fosse heavily overgrown; interior ploughed. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
