Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballinard (carbery West (e.d.) By) stands in pasture on a W-facing slope, commanding spectacular views SW to Baltimore and N to southern slope of Knockomagh. Its circular area measures 33.9m N-S and 31.5m E-W, enclosed by a 2.95m earthen bank with an external fosse 1.35m deep from E to NNE. The inner bank is stone faced, the NE entrance is 3.7m wide, and a triangular mound 0.8m high abuts the SE inner face, extending 6.5m into the interior.
