An Liosachán, a true ringfort, stood in that Kerry field until County Council men broke it open and carried its stones away for public works. They treated the fortress like a ordinary heap of rock, forgetting that walls hold memory and boundary. The neighbouring fort of the same name remains small enough to escape classification, but the lost one gave up its bones to build roads for people who stopped asking what they damaged.

A fort known as An Liosachán once occupied this field (local information). It was destroyed when stones were drawn from it for the County Council many years ago. Another fort called An Liosachán was apparently located in the neighbouring townland of Ballintemple (KE052-017----), but this latter example seems to have been too small to classify as a ringfort. A fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Baile Na Rátha Thuaidh is a likely early-medieval circular earthwork, traditionally associated with both prehistoric habitation and later folklore surrounding fairies or supernatural beings. The site, known locally as An Liosachán, was partially destroyed when stones were removed for County Council use, erasing much of its physical remains and historical context.

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
