Until about 1982, a solid earthen bank enclosed a thirty-metre circle at Baile An Tsagairt. When machinery levelled the fort, it exposed a hidden drystone passage with a chamber and marked entrance, revealing that the fairies had built a secret doorway beneath the human wall. The passage was covered again, but the discovery proved the site contained more than a simple boundary.

This ringfort was destroyed in about 1982 and the site is now marked only by a scatter of small stones which cover a roughly circular area 30m in diameter. Prior to its destruction, the site was enclosed by a single earthen bank (local information), but on the 2nd edition of the OS map a 2nd outer bank is shown along the W sector. A drystone-built Man-made underground passage (KE045-024001-) was revealed when the site was levelled but it was subsequently covered over again. It consisted of at least 1 passage and chamber, and a porthole slab marked an entrance at some point within the structure. A small perforated stone, possibly a net-sinker or loom-weight, was found amongst the loose stones on the surface. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne.
