Lios na bhFonsaí is a circular earthen ringfort on level ground at the northwest edge of Dingle Harbour, its forty-four metre interior marked by a stone mound likely born of field clearance rather than ceremony. The bank rises no more than a metre and a half, yet it still draws the eye inward, as if the harbour itself leaned close to listen. People may have lived there, loved there, or simply passed through its broken entrance without knowing they walked inside an old chamber of time.

Internal diam. 44.3m Lisnaboonsee/Lios na bhFonsaí: Situated on fairly level ground at the NW side of Dingle Harbour. This is a circular univallate rath, enclosed by an earthen bank, with an external fosse visible only in the W quadrant. The latter is c. 1.2m wide and no more than .2m deep. The bank is a maximum of 1.5m high externally and 1.26m high internally, but much of the E half of the site is defined merely by a scarp which falls 1.5m from the interior to the external ground level. Some stones are present in the faces of the bank in the N sector, but there is no definite evidence for revetment walling. Breaks in the bank occur at NNW, SE and W, but it is not clear where the original entrance lay. The large oval mound of stones which occupies the centre of the interior is probably a field clearance cairn. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne.
