No visible mound remains in the farmyard at Ballineesteenig, though a circular fort with an external fosse once stood there. The fort was destroyed fairly recently after appearing as a degraded mound on early survey maps. An ogham stone formerly stood nearby in the same yard, linking the lost earthworks to a place already marked for memory.

This site has been described as a circular fort with an external fosse (local information). It was destroyed fairly recently and the site, which lies in the old village of Ballineesteenig, is now occupied by a farmyard and out-buildings. On the 1st edition of the OS map it is depicted as a mound, suggesting that its condition was poor even then. It is named 'Fort' on the Fair Plan.
