What is recorded here

Half a metre of earth still holds the shape of a house in the Ardrum Demesne, a shallow circle wide enough for a family and narrow enough to remember. Cattle walk around it now, unaware they are grazing the edge of someone’s weeks, seasons and arguments. The fort has lost its wall but kept its boundary, drawing a line through grass that no longer needs defending.

In pasture, on E-facing slope, in NW corner of Ardrum Demesne. Circular area (23m N-S; 24m E-W) enclosed by almost levelled earthen bank (H 0.45m). Visible as shadow site in aerial photograph (CASAP). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
