Fairy forts are human ringforts misnamed, often occupied before legend replaced memory. In Ahacore, a worn earth-and-stone bank still marks a small enclosure beside Rose Brook, its edge cut by water and time. People may have lived there, herded there, or simply kept the shape sacred after leaving. The fairies entered later, taking what ambiguity they could.

Situated on the E bank of Rose Brook, a tributary of the Mulkear River, on a gentle S-facing slope in poorly-drained pasture. The monument is by scrub vegetation but is evident as a sub-circular area (c. 23m N-S), enclosed by an earth-and-stone bank (int. H 0.2m; Wth 2m; ext. H 0.35m) with an external fosse (Wth 2.5m; D 0.2m) from NW to SSE, and by a scarped edge along the stream's edge from SSE to NW. The bank is heavily eroded.
