Fairy fort and earthen ringfort in Aghaleague, County Mayo, Ireland. A ringfort, or rath, stands there: a made circle of earth, old enough to belong before written memory. People may have lived, hidden or marked territory inside it; the fairies may have taken it back after the humans left. The earth remembers both claims, even when the story refuses to choose between them.
