Fairy fort in Acre Beg, County Galway: a 40m circular rath with two banks, an intervening fosse, and an interior raised well above the pasture. Its gaps mark where people, cattle or imagination have passed through for centuries. The SSE opening may still echo an old causeway, inviting you to picture the fort not as a dead shape but as a threshold still breathing in the field.

In undulating pastureland. A circular rath (diam. 40m), in good condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. Both banks are breached by numerous gaps, however, one at SSE may correspond to a 'causeway across the fosse' which was noted on 'S side' (Unpublished file, National Monuments Service).
