Fairy fort in Abbeymahon, County Cork. Two earthen banks still circle a twenty-five-metre grass patch atop the hill, though hedges and time have blurred their edges. People called it a fairy fort because the shape appeared complete enough to remember and empty enough to imagine.

In pasture, atop hill. Heavily overgrown circular area (diam. c. 25m) enclosed by two earthen banks with intervening fosse, and shallow external fosse. Inner bank (H 1.1m) levelled N->E. Outer bank (H 1.7m) replaced by scarp (H 1.3m) N->E. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
