Excavation is a temporary research cut opened in 1998 where a hidden place can be read before it is lost. In County Louth, that cut may have revealed medieval pits, pottery and animal bone, giving shape to lives that never wrote themselves down. The wonder is not only what was found but what stopped being forgotten for a moment.

Discovered during archaeological test trenching in 1998 (Excavation Licence No. 98E0406). Three linear features (average Wths 0.75m, 0.85m and 1.1m) all running in a N-S direction and filled with a dark brown silty clay containing animal bone and medieval pottery were uncovered.
