What is recorded here

Excavation is a circular pit beside Structure 9.1 in County Galway. It held clay silt, small stones, gravel and faint traces of burnt animal bone. People may have eaten there, buried what remained, and let the earth take the rest.
This large circular pit (diam. 0.8m, D 0.11m) was uncovered just outside the NW corner of Structure 9.1 (GA110-039034-). It was filled with clay silt, small stones and gravel and contained minute traces of organic refuse, including some traces of burnt animal bone. It may have been associated with the house (Cotter 2012, vol. 1, 256-7; vol. 2 274). Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 23 June 2020
