Ettore Felici, the second Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland, died in Dublin on 9 May 1951 after surviving the horrors of Belgrade and serving the Vatican through two world wars. His body rests in the crypt of St Mary's Pro-Cathedral, a quiet end for a man who had witnessed occupation, bombing and the collapse of empires. He arrived in Ireland in 1949, barely two years before death claimed him, leaving behind a life marked by diplomacy, danger and endurance.
