ENCLOSURE: TEIGE'S FORT in Balleny

Teige's Fort stands in County Down, an enclosure whose age remains uncertain but whose name suggests a forgotten stronghand. The stones may have blocked a valley mouth or marked a boundary nobody writes about. Teige could have been a chieftain, a thief or a myth born from fear of the dark land. His fort still belongs to him, waiting for someone to remember why it was built.
