Enclosure is a large ring-fort in County Limerick where a thousand-year-old stone bank still holds a living bull. The fort measures about seventy metres across its interior and one hundred metres overall, with a deep fosse cutting through marshy lowland that floods in winter. A south entrance now wears an iron gate, fitting human desire for control inside an older circle of earth and stone. The animal may pace the same ground where people once drew a line between themselves and the wide dark field.

Monument described in 1943 as following; 'This is a large ring-fort [approx. int. diam. 70m]enclosed by a fosse and bank the outside of the latter being faced with stone. The interior is approximately level with the field outside. The entrance is on the south side and is now fitted with an iron gate as the fort is used as a bull enclosure. The bank remains to a height of 8' [2.4m] over the bottom of the fosse. The overall diameter is 330' [100m]. The structure is situated in poor lowland, which is marshy in winter' (O'Kelly 1942-3, 177). The outline of the monument is clearly visible today on Digital Globe aerial photographs.
