Enclosure

Situated on a fairly flat, rough, wet pasture with a good view to E and S and moderate views to W and N. Depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map as subrectangular-shaped earthwork. Incorporated into a deserted medieval settlement (WM025-111004-) and an ancient field system (WM025-111001-). Enclosures (WM025-113----/-112----) lie c. 85m to W and c. 87m to NW, respectively. Monument described as a large subrectangular-shaped earthwork enclosure by a low well preserved earthen bank with no trace of an external fosse and no entrance feature visible. The interior is fairly level with a very slight S-facing slope and is cut by old cultivation ridges running N-S. In the vicinity there are slight remains of the surrounding field system in the form of low banks, although none make contact with the monument. Monument is visible today as a long subrectangular-shaped earthwork on Digital Globe aerial photography. A Preservation Order was placed on this monument 26/02/1966 (SMR file).
