Enclosure

Enclosure, large enclosure

What is recorded here

Enclosure is a hundred-metre circular scar on a Meath hillock, its shallow bank fading where the rath rises. The missing southern edge does not read like damage; it reads like invitation. A place that keeps a gap is a place that expects company, even if only company from centuries away.
Situated on a hillock in the N foothills of Slieve na Calliagh ridge. The bivallate rath (ME009-057----) is located at the NE edge of a large circular enclosure (diam. c. 100m NE-SW) that is defined by a scarp (at NW: Wth 2m; H 1m) which can be traced visibly SSW-W-NE. The perimeter meets the outer bank of the rath at NE but it is absent SE-S. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 1 November, 2018
