Half a mile south of Desart Court, a quarter-mile circle of earth still holds its shape in Kilkenny pasture. Irish speakers called it Lios-Chluainín, the Fort of the Little Meadow, naming the place before roads and fields cut across it. Cattle graze where the rampart dips, yet the southern arc rises clear enough to mark the old line. The meadow kept its name in tongues long after stone and boundary forgot the fort.

In pasture. A public road runs NNW-SSE along the E side of the enclosure and a field boundary, running NE-SW, possibly cuts across the edge of the NW quadrant. According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 3, 389), 'Irish speakers still call Desart by its old name, which they pronounce Lischlooineen, or Lislooineen, that is Lios-Chluainín, the Fort of the Little Cluain or Meadow. The Lios is about a quarter of a mile south of Desart Court. It is circular in shape and about 100 yds. in diameter; and, though partially dismantled, its enclosing earthen rampart can be easily traced. The people now call it a Rath'. The S portion (diam. c. 85m) is indicated on the 1899-1900 revision of the OS 6-inch map.
