A small stone enclosure is located within the proposed forest. The enclosure is 4.5m long (east/west) and 2.5m (north/south). It is teardrop shaped. It’s walls are drystone built and are between 1 to 0.5m wide and 0.75m to 1m high. There appears to be a rough opening on the north side through the dry stone wall c. 1.5m wide. The enclosure is set under a break in slope where the rock outcrops creating natural plateau above the surrounding area. The ridge is defined by a distinct drop with a c. 4m falls to the west. The above description is derived from an archaeological assessment report for a proposed new forest at Toorsaleen, Co. Kerry. The report was compiled by Edmond O'Donovan & Associates in April 2014.
