What is recorded here

No visible trace survives on the gentle rise, yet a deep fosse with steep sides once cut the earth into an odd oval platform. The vanished ditch may have marked a home, a boundary or a forgotten ritual, while the grass now hides the shape that resisted easy description.

On a gentle rise. Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1932) as a roughly circular enclosure (D c. 35m). An inspection made in 1967 classified it as a 'Ringfort(?)' and described it as a 'Really odd, oval low platform enclosure (49 paces N.-S. x 38 paces E.-W.) … bounded by a deep fosse with steep sides (Topgr.
