Enclosure in Shanganagh Beg

Marked on the 1841 edition of the OS 6-inch map as a small circular enclosure (max. diam. c. 15m). On the 1909 edition, the site is depicted as a mound. Situated in undulating countryside with River Barrow to the E. No visible surface remains. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P. David Sweetman, Olive Alcock and Bernie Moran.
