Enclosure in Shancough (tirerrill By.) is an enclosure in Shancough (tirerrill By.), County Sligo, Ireland. It occupies the summit of a ridge in pasture and forms an oval raised area measuring 64 metres northwest-southeast and 32 metres northeast-southwest. A 2.75 metre high scarp defines most of this space, except a short southeastern section removed for a 6 metre diameter quarry pit. A gently sloping platform 10 to 14 metres wide surrounds the scarp base, while a separate 1.3 metre high stone-lined scarp marks the southeastern and northeastern edge of the platform.
In pasture, straddling the summit of a ridge. An oval raised area (64m NW-SE; 32m NE-SW) defined by a scarp (H 2.75m), apart from a short section at SE where the scarp has been removed due to a small quarry pit (diam. 6m). The base of the scarp is surrounded by a gently sloping platform (Wth 10-14m) which is in turn defined by a stone-lined scarp (H 1.3m) SE-NE. Drystone field boundary walls have been constructed against the face of the outer scarp at SSE and another lies along the line of the now absent scarp NE-SE. Drystone walls abut the outer scarp at W, NNW, N, NE and SE. Known locally as a 'fort'.
