Enclosure in Scarteen (dunkerron South By.)

Within a field system (KE083-023002-) in rough hill grazing on the S-facing slopes of Knockleama with a view across the valley of the Blackwater River to Kenmare Bay. An oval area (10m E-W; 8.5m N-S) defined by the lower courses of a roughly built stone wall (T 1m; H 0.9m), which protrudes above the surface of shallow bog. The almost level interior is raised (H 0.6m) at S and cut into the hill (D 1m) at N to compensate for the hillslope. Rubble is scattered in the interior and along the perimeter. A hut site (KE083-023024-) is in the S quadrant. A second hut site (KE083-023008-) lies c. 19m to the SSE.
