Enclosure in Scarteen stands as a ruined stone circle inside a living field system, its crude boulders still marking a boundary though the entrance has vanished under collapse. It belongs to a cluster of similar enclosures, suggesting repeated human use rather than a single isolated event. The stones may have guarded a home, a shrine or a seasonal workspace, but they no longer speak in a language the modern eye easily reads.

Within a field system (KE083-023002-). A stone-built enclosure (diam. c. 15m) defined by a crudely built wall (T 1.2m; H c. 0.8m), two to three courses high, of rough stone boulders. The entrance location is difficult to determine due to collapse. Relict walls are visible in an aerial photograph (GSIAP, V 298-7) extending from the enclosure along the NW and NE arcs. There is a hut site (KE083-023012-) within this enclosure and another hut site (KE083-023013-) lies c. 30m to the SW. This is one of a number of enclosures (see KE083-023003-, KE083-023004-, KE083-023005-, KE083-023006-, KE083-023007-, KE083-023008-) within the field system.
