What is recorded here
Enclosure in Roshin (gartan Ed) is an abandoned farmstead in County Donegal where a single-ringed circular mark still shows on old surveys. New forest has swallowed the valley between Leafin and Cabra hills, leaving the place hidden but not forgotten. Whatever lived there before the trees closed over it has vanished into soil and shadow.
There is nothing to indicate the nature of the single-ringed circular enclosure marked on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map. It is presently the site of an abandoned farmstead surrounded by new forest on the N side of a small valley between Leafin and Cabra hills.
The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' Compiled by: Brian Lacey with Eamon Cody, Claire Cotter, Judy Cuppage, Noel Dunne, Vincent Hurley, Celie O'Rahilly, Paul Walsh and Seán Ó Nualláin (Lifford: Donegal County Council, 1983). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated.
