Enclosure in Rathmore was a circular platform with a northern oval bank, holding a possible underground passage before destruction in 1964. It stood in County Louth as a shaped human answer to open ground, perhaps guiding people into darkness or marking a boundary the land could forget. Its disappearance removed a rare invitation to imagine how many hands built it and how often they returned.

The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Shown on current OS 1:2500 sheet as circular platform (max. diam. c. 28m), with roughly the N half enclosed by oval bank. Destroyed in 1964. Possible Man-made underground passage (LH006-018002-) in interior.
