Enclosure in Rannagh West is a large Late Bronze Age enclosure on the Carran plateau, immediately west of Carran village. Its subrectangular walls, about 150m east-west and 140m north-south, match a neighbouring enclosure 1.4km southeast. Later field walls cut across the older lines, while two uncertain droveways leave the site and several burial mounds cluster within 300m. It remains one of five prehistoric enclosures on the plateau, a place where herding, ritual and memory may have converged.
Situated on the Carran plateau, immediately W of Carran village. A large subrectangular area (c. 150m E-W; c. 140m N-S), one of 5 prehistoric enclosures on the plateau (Jones et al. 2011, 46, fig.4, Enclosure 3). It is defined by walls similar to another of the five enclosures c. 1.4km to the SE (CL010-015001-) dated to the Late Bronze Age (Gibson 2007, 1-29). A number of later field walls extending NE-SW are superimposed. Two trackways or droveways lead off it but it is unclear if these are original features. Three cairns and two ring-barrows are located within 300m to the N, SE and S. (Hennigar 2008, 63-8; Jones et al. 2011, 44-9)
