What is recorded here

Enclosure in Loughbown was a thirty-metre circular earthwork on a grassy hummock in County Galway, marked on a 1946 map but bulldozed away before anyone could walk its vanished edge. It stood near a surviving ringfort, suggesting a small cluster of human life where people may have lived, hidden or tended fields under open Galway skies. The loss is not academic; it removes a visible anchor for imagining how ordinary people shaped that landscape.

On a hummock in undulating grassland. Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1946) as a circular enclosure (D c. 30m). No visible surface trace survives. According to local information, the monument was bulldozed some years ago. A ringfort (GA087-176----) lies c. 150m to SE.
