Enclosure in Lehid (glanarought By.)

In rough pasture, on a NE-facing slope overlooking Gowlane Lake. An irregular-shaped area (int. 126m NE-SW; 55m NW-SE) defined by the lower courses of a collapsed drystone wall (T c. 0.65m; H 0.6m). The large stones of the lower courses are partly grass covered and protrude above the thin blanket bog cover. Rubble from the collapsed upper courses is scattered along the perimeter. A possible megalithic structure (KE108-049005-) is situated at the centre of the enclosure. A hut site (KE108-049004-), a triangular enclosure (KE108-049007-) and a relict field boundary (KE108-049001-) adjoin the SE wall of the enclosure, externally. Another enclosure (KE108-049003-) is 18m to the NW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
