Enclosure in Lambay Island — Report the wrong picture

Lambay Island, County Dublin: an oval enclosure, forty metres across, lies twenty metres from the Iron Age harbour burials. The geophysical survey revealed it in 2014, confirming that the island was not empty but lived, bounded and remembered. The oval shape suggests purpose, perhaps ritual or domestic, though no wall remains to point at. The dead at the harbour and the enclosed space above them belong to the same time and imagination.

Geophysical survey (Licence no. 12R078) undertaken by The Discovery Programme for the ‘Late Iron Age and “Roman” Ireland’ project, identified an enclosure c. 20m from the Iron Age burials at the harbour (DU009-001012-).
