Knockaneyouloo hides a forgotten fort beneath the SW slopes of Mount Foley, where a raised platform still wears a gapped circle of large boulders. The enclosing wall lost its stone in the 1950s, yet the ground remembers the shape of a place never marked on official maps. Local story speaks of an underground passage beneath it, a dark room the mountain kept for itself.

Located in pastureland on the SW slopes of Mount Foley, this site survives as a slightly raised platform, 8.2m x 6.8m, outlined by a gapped circle of large boulders. Not marked on the OS maps, it is known locally as a 'fort'. The stone of the enclosing wall was removed in the 1950s. A Man-made underground passage (KE070-004001-) reputedly exists at the site (local information). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
